Yesterday, on December 16th, a formal ceremony was held at the Beer Museum to award vocational education scholarships. These scholarships are provided by the Olvi Foundation in collaboration with A. Le Coq and the Tartu Kultuurkapital, with the goal of recognizing and supporting the most outstanding vocational students and fostering the development of professional skills.
This year, scholarships were awarded to two top students from the mechatronics program at Tartu Vocational College (VOCO). While in previous years a scholarship was also given to a technical field instructor, this year the funds have been allocated, in collaboration with the school, to purchase teaching tools. This approach aims to make vocational education even more practical and to expand learning opportunities.
The €1,000 scholarships from the Olvi Foundation were awarded to Marten Kuiv and Karl Martin Teppand.
“A. Le Coq sees investing in youth development as essential because the specialists of the future will shape the success stories of the industry,” said Katrin Lember, A. Le Coq’s HR and Sustainability Director. “Through this scholarship, our goal is to popularize and develop technical vocational education, as practical skills add value to companies. Versatile technical specialists with broad horizons are needed in nearly every area of life.”
Scholarship recipient Karl Martin Teppand also emphasized the importance of supporting vocational education and the growing prestige of this path, noting that companies have played a key role in this process. “Companies value the practical skills acquired through vocational training, which are increasingly appreciated in the labor market. This motivates students to strive harder and enhances the status of vocational education among young people,” said Teppand.
The Olvi Foundation and A. Le Coq have been awarding scholarships in the field of technology since 2007. The broader aim of the initiative is to promote and develop technical vocational education in Estonia. In addition to awarding scholarships, A. Le Coq actively participates in teaching by organizing a fully practical module of one course at their factory.
