On September 5th at 4:00 PM, Sashami’s drawing exhibition “Elusive Tartu” will open in the art tunnel of A. Le Coq’s Beer World.

Sashami, also known as Alexandra Milyakina, has been working on city illustrations since 2017 and has drawn over 350 buildings in Tartu during this time. According to Sashami, drawing is her attempt to capture a city that constantly changes, evolves, and seems to slip away. She is particularly fascinated by old wooden houses, sheds, factories, and garages.

The exhibition “Tabamatu Tartu” will showcase 26 of Sashami’s drawings from the period 2017-2024, including a few works featuring the A. Le Coq factory.

In addition, the exhibition’s opening will also introduce a newly completed interactive map of Tartu, which compiles all of Sashami’s Tartu drawings over the years. The map can be viewed here: Interactive Map.

Sashami, or Alexandra Milyakina (b. 1991), is a researcher at the University of Tartu and a freelance artist, primarily focused on city illustrations. She has created illustrations for the Tartu City Government, Tartu City Museum, Obinitsa Museum, and others.

This is the fifth art exhibition at the A. Le Coq Beer Museum, with exhibitions changing every three months.

The exhibition is open in A. Le Coq’s Beer World art tunnel from September 5th to December 7th, 2024, Wednesday to Friday from 11 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free.
